چکیده

This application note shows how to achieve low-cost, efficient serial configuration for Spartan FPGA designs. The approach recommended here takes advantage of unused resources in a design, thereby reducing the cost, part count, memory size, and board space associated with the serial configuration circuitry. As a result, neither processor nor PROM needs to be fully dedicated to performing Spartan configuration. In particular, information is provided on how the idle processing time of an on-board controller can be used to load configuration data from an off-board source. As a result, it is possible to upgrade a Spartan design in the field by sending the bitstream over a network. A brief summary of Spartan slave serial configuration, its protocol and signals, lays the groundwork for a discussion on ways to reduce bitstream storage and processing requirements. A detailed example illustrates how these techniques can be put into practice. Finally, different formats for configuration data are described along with instructions for their use.

Partial bitstream protection for low-cost FPGAs with physical unclonable function, obfuscation, and dynamic partial self reconfiguration

This paper proposes a techniquebased onPhysicalUnclonable Functions (PUFs), obfuscation, and Dynamic Partial Self Reconfiguration (DPSR) to protect partial FPGA configuration bitstreams from cloning and reverse engineering. With the aid of this technique, we are able to do the equivalent of partial bitstream encryption on low-cost FPGAs, which is only featured on high-end FPGAs. Low-cost FPGAs ...

Self-Reconfiguration of Embedded Systems Mapped on Spartan-3

This paper describes the architecture and design flow of a self-reconfigurable embedded system, mapped on Spartan-3 low-cost FPGA. The proposed design flow combines EDK and ISE software along with an ownmade tool, in order to create a self-reconfigurable system able to map a reconfigurable OPB coprocessor. A fixed area of the FPGA is reserved to accommodate a set of coprocessors whose execution...

FPGA based speed control of PMBLDC motor using SVPWM technique in fuzzy controller

The main aim of this paper is to control the speed of PMBLDC motor by implementing SVPWM technique in FPGA based Fuzzy controller.BLDC motors are electronically commutated. An electronic controller replaces the brush/commutators assembly of the brushed DC motor, which continually switches the phase to the windings to keep the motor turning. The controller performs similar timed power distributi...
